Job Purpose
The role operates within the Strategic Sourcing function, reporting to the Senior Manager: Strategic Sourcing. The incumbent will be responsible for supporting and executing allocated sourcing initiatives of moderate to intermediate complexity across assigned categories, ensuring commercial discipline, governance compliance, stakeholder engagement and value delivery. The role works with stakeholders across Hollard Insurance, Hollard Life Assurance, ROA and related subsidiaries to support RFx processes, supplier engagements, commercial reviews, contract renewals, supplier governance activities and sourcing recommendations. Complex, high-risk, non-standard or contentious matters are escalated to the Senior Manager: Strategic Sourcing for guidance, review and decision-making. As an experienced individual contributor, the role applies sound commercial judgement, supports supplier performance management, contributes to sourcing process improvement, and embeds Transformation, BBBEE and Shared Value objectives into sourcing execution.
Key Performance Areas
- Support and execute allocated sourcing initiatives of moderate to intermediate complexity across assigned categories within the Strategic Sourcing function.
- Prepare sourcing plans, RFx documentation, evaluation inputs, supplier engagement packs and recommendation documents in line with procurement governance requirements.
- The role contributes to sourcing outcomes by analysing business requirements, supporting market engagement, coordinating supplier responses and ensuring that sourcing activities are properly documented, commercially sound and audit-ready.
- Commercial Contracting Support
- Support commercial reviews, negotiations and contracting activities for allocated sourcing initiatives, including MSAs, SOWs, SaaS, licensing, cloud, service agreements and associated lifecycle events.
- The role provides commercial input, identifies key contractual considerations, supports negotiation preparation and works with Legal, Risk, Finance and business stakeholders to ensure that commercial terms are practical, compliant and aligned to business requirements.
- Supplier Governance and Performance Support
- Support supplier governance and performance management activities for allocated suppliers.
- This includes tracking supplier performance, monitoring delivery against agreed commitments, supporting governance meetings, following up on action items and identifying supplier-related risks or issues.
- The role supports value realisation by ensuring that negotiated commercial benefits, service commitments, transformation commitments and supplier performance obligations are tracked and reported appropriately.
4. Risk, Governance and Compliance
- Ensure that sourcing and contracting activities comply with procurement policies, delegated authority requirements, governance standards, audit requirements and applicable internal controls.
- The role identifies sourcing, supplier, commercial and contractual risks and recommends appropriate mitigation actions.
- The role is responsible for maintaining proper sourcing records, ensuring decision transparency and supporting audit readiness across allocated sourcing activities.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Requirement Management
- Build effective working relationships with stakeholders across IT, Finance, Risk, Legal, business units and Group entities.
- Engage stakeholders to understand business requirements, clarify scope, confirm evaluation criteria and provide regular updates on sourcing progress.
- The role provides sourcing insights, commercial analysis and recommendations to support informed decision-making.
- Commercial Analysis and Reporting
- Conduct spend analysis, supplier analysis, pricing comparisons, TCO assessments and market research to support sourcing recommendations and commercial decision-making.
- Prepare accurate reports on sourcing progress, savings, cost avoidance, supplier performance, risks, governance status, transformation outcomes and other agreed procurement measures.
- The role contributes to data-driven decision-making by ensuring that sourcing recommendations are supported by clear, accurate and relevant analysis.
- Transformation, BBBEE and Shared Value
- Embed Transformation, BBBEE and Shared Value objectives into sourcing activities, RFx documentation, supplier evaluations and commercial recommendations.
- The role supports the inclusion of transformation requirements in sourcing processes and works with relevant stakeholders to ensure that supplier selection and contracting recommendations consider commercial sustainability, supplier capability, service delivery, risk and transformation outcomes.
- Continuous Improvement and Knowledge Sharing
- Contribute to continuous improvement within the Strategic Sourcing function by identifying opportunities to improve templates, sourcing processes, reporting, governance practices and ways of working.
- Share knowledge and provide informal peer support where required.
