Purpose of the Role

The Technical Manager will provide technical leadership, operational oversight, and strategic direction to support company objectives. The role includes managing technical teams, improving equipment reliability, ensuring compliance, and maintaining strong customer relationships. The successful candidate must be willing to travel to underground mining operations and conduct site inspections.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronic Engineering, or related field

- Leadership or management qualification advantageous

Experience

- Minimum 5 years’ management experience

- Mining industry experience essential

- Experience managing technical and field service teams across multiple mining sites

- Customer-facing technical operations experience

- Experience with maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability improvement of mining systems

- Technical Knowledge

- Strong understanding of underground mining operations and safety standards

- Knowledge of mining equipment maintenance and reliability management

- Experience with mining technology systems (PDS, VIS, telemetry, tracking, automation systems advantageous)

- Exposure to PLCs, CANbus, industrial networking, and control systems

- Ability to interpret technical drawings and conduct Root Cause Analysis

Additional Requirements

- Valid driver’s licence

- Willingness to travel extensively

- Medically fit for underground mine access

- Strong leadership and communication skills

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage technical teams across mining operations

- Oversee maintenance, fault-finding, repairs, and troubleshooting

- Ensure legal, safety, and regulatory compliance

- Develop maintenance strategies to improve reliability and performance

- Support recruitment, mentoring, and performance management

- Conduct Root Cause Analysis and implement corrective actions

- Maintain strong customer relationships and act as technical escalation point

- Monitor operational performance and compile technical reports

- Manage technical resources, budgets, and projects

- Conduct site visits and audits

- Leadership and strategic thinking

- Planning and stakeholder management

- Communication and problem-solving skills

- Conflict management and adaptability

- Customer-focused and results-driven mindset

- Technical analysis and continuous improvement focus
