Maintenance Shift Leader – Pretoria
A leading automotive component manufacturer based in Pretoria is seeking an experienced Maintenance Shift Leader to oversee maintenance activities, drive equipment reliability, and lead a team of technicians in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Requirements
- Diploma in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent NQF 6 qualification
- Supervisory or team leadership experience within a manufacturing environment
- Minimum 5 years' experience as an Instrumentation Technician in the automotive industry
- Strong PLC programming and Robotic Programming expertise
- Minimum 3 years' experience in the following
- Siemens TIA Portal and Siemens S7 systems
- ABB robotic systems, including Stamp Master applications
- Cognex vision systems and camera technology
- Maintaining and troubleshooting mechanical press equipment
- Proven leadership experience, including performance management, delegation, conflict resolution, and team development
Main Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate shift maintenance activities to maximise equipment uptime and production efficiency
- Ensure all plant equipment is maintained in accordance with preventative maintenance schedules
- Respond rapidly to equipment breakdowns and restore operations with minimal production impact
- Conduct root cause investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring failures
- Monitor maintenance KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Identify critical spare part requirements and support inventory planning
- Analyse equipment performance and implement optimisation opportunities
- Ensure all maintenance work orders and preventative maintenance tasks are completed and closed within required timeframes
- Supervise, coach, and develop maintenance team members on equipment, systems, and best practices
- Manage overtime, shift resources, and workforce planning within legal and company requirements
- Maintain compliance with all health, safety, and company procedures
- Ensure completion of daily inspections, TPM activities, and equipment condition monitoring
