Maintenance Shift Leader – Pretoria

A leading automotive component manufacturer based in Pretoria is seeking an experienced Maintenance Shift Leader to oversee maintenance activities, drive equipment reliability, and lead a team of technicians in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Requirements

• Diploma in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent NQF 6 qualification
• Supervisory or team leadership experience within a manufacturing environment
• Minimum 5 years' experience as an Instrumentation Technician in the automotive industry
• Strong PLC programming and Robotic Programming expertise
• Minimum 3 years' experience in the following
  • Siemens TIA Portal and Siemens S7 systems
  • ABB robotic systems, including Stamp Master applications
  • Cognex vision systems and camera technology
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting mechanical press equipment
• Proven leadership experience, including performance management, delegation, conflict resolution, and team development

Main Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate shift maintenance activities to maximise equipment uptime and production efficiency
• Ensure all plant equipment is maintained in accordance with preventative maintenance schedules
• Respond rapidly to equipment breakdowns and restore operations with minimal production impact
• Conduct root cause investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring failures
• Monitor maintenance KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Identify critical spare part requirements and support inventory planning
• Analyse equipment performance and implement optimisation opportunities
• Ensure all maintenance work orders and preventative maintenance tasks are completed and closed within required timeframes
• Supervise, coach, and develop maintenance team members on equipment, systems, and best practices
• Manage overtime, shift resources, and workforce planning within legal and company requirements
• Maintain compliance with all health, safety, and company procedures
• Ensure completion of daily inspections, TPM activities, and equipment condition monitoring
