Senior Investment Analyst

Senior Investment Analyst: Sustainable Capital ( www.sustainablecapital.mu) is currently expanding its investment team. We are searching for an experienced fundamental investment analyst.

The analyst’s role will be to conduct detailed company research and valuations of Africa-dominant listed equities (excluding South Africa). The successful applicant will be based in Cape Town, South Africa, and will be required to travel into African countries on a regular basis. The role is available immediately and applications will be considered on an ongoing basis until a suitable candidate has been identified.

• Values and culture: The ideal candidate would be passionate about long-term investment research and stock selection in the African context and able to work within a small team of dedicated investment professionals. An independent, contrarian thinker with integrity, humility, intellectual curiosity, emotional maturity, discipline, attention to detail, a strong work ethic and accountability would suit this role.
• Investment research experience: Relevant experience as an equity investment analyst conducting detailed bottom-up, fundamental research and company valuations is an important prerequisite. Experience of working as part of a high-quality team in a buy-side asset management environment would be useful. The ability to make high-conviction recommendations based on a disciplined investment process is essential.
• Frontier Africa company coverage: Applicants with existing research coverage or knowledge of listed African companies (excluding South Africa) will be given preference. The successful candidate will be expected to cover a broad range of companies across various African geographies and sectors.
• Languages and qualifications: Proficiency in English is essential, including report-writing. Fluency in other languages such as arabic and french would be an advantage. Relevant qualifications in investment management or sustainability such as CA, MBA, CFA, Masters or Bachelors degrees will be considered.
• Sustainability background: Training, practical experience or strong interest in the field of sustainability. Skill set and experience in sustainable/responsible investment (integrating material sustainability risks and opportunities into valuations) will be of interest.
