About the role: FET isiZulu Teacher — Grades 8–12

As our high school isiZulu educator, you’ll be responsible for preparing learners to communicate confidently and meaningfully in isiZulu, while developing their appreciation for language, culture, literature, and identity. You’ll teach isiZulu for Grades 8–12, with a strong focus on IEB curriculum requirements, examination preparation, language proficiency, and learner engagement.

Your responsibilities

Teach isiZulu to learners in Grades 8–12

Develop and deliver engaging lessons aligned to the IEB curriculum

Prepare learners for IEB assessments and final examinations

Build learners’ confidence in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and comprehension

Teach grammar, literature, creative writing, transactional writing, and oral communication

Use real-world contexts to make language learning relevant and meaningful

Support learners with varying levels of language ability

Encourage appreciation for isiZulu language, culture, and heritage

Collaborate with fellow educators in a supportive and innovative team

Participate in ongoing professional development and coaching

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in education with FET phase specialisation – non-negotiable

SACE registered, with valid certification – non-negotiable

3+ years of teaching experience in FET, preferably in an IEB context

Experience teaching isiZulu at Grade 10–12 level

Strong understanding of IEB assessment standards and curriculum planning

Excellent spoken and written isiZulu language proficiency

Ability to create engaging, inclusive, and differentiated lessons

Passionate about language development and learner confidence

Comfortable working in a small, high-impact, entrepreneurial school environment
