SUMMARY
This is a senior operational role with supervisory responsibility for a team of geologists and geological technicians. The incumbent will play a critical role in maximizing ore recovery, minimizing dilution, and supporting safe, efficient mining operations

Key Responsibilities
GEOLOGICAL PRODUCTION & GRADE CONTROL
- Manage daily grade control activities for the open-pit mining operation.
- Ensure accurate ore delineation and identification of mineralized zones.
- Supervise ore spotting and ore/waste boundary control during mining operations.
- Ensure optimal ore recovery while minimizing dilution and ore loss.
- Conduct geological mapping, sampling, logging, and interpretation.
- Validate and maintain grade control databases and geological models.
- Review blast hole data and update short-term geological interpretations.
RECONCILIATION & REPORTING
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly ore reconciliation.
- Investigate grade variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Compile geological production reports and operational summaries.
- Support resource model validation and continuous improvement initiatives.
TEAM LEADERSHIP & SUPERVISION
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of geologists and geological technicians.
OPERATIONAL & TECHNICAL SUPPORT
- Work closely with Mine Planning, Survey, Processing, and Mining teams.
- Participate in short-term planning and production meetings.
- Support drilling programmes and sampling campaigns.
- Ensure compliance with QA/QC protocols and geological standards.
- Assist with resource development and exploration activities where required.
Inherent Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree / BSc Honours in Geology or related field.
- Minimum 7–10 years’ geological experience within open-cast mining operations.
- Proven track record in hard rock opencast mining, and ore control practices
- Strong background in production geology and grade control and QA/QC processes and reconciliation.
- Professional registration with a recognized geological body will be advantageous.
