SUMMARY

An established mining equipment manufacturer is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design, development, testing, and optimisation of complex mechanical systems for underground mobile mining equipment. The role involves CAD design, system simulation, technical documentation, product improvement, and providing engineering support throughout manufacturing, commissioning, and aftermarket operations.

Requirements

• BSc Mechanical Engineering, Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent qualification
• Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical design engineering
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, ANSYS, MATLAB, Nastran, or similar engineering software
• Strong understanding of mechanical system design, integration, and validation
• Experience with material selection, manufacturing processes, and cost optimisation
• Ability to interpret and modify mechanical drawings, hydraulic schematics, and pneumatic diagrams
• Knowledge of mining equipment standards and regulatory requirements
• Experience with engineering calculations, FEA, CFD, and technical reporting
• Willingness to travel to mines, testing facilities, and customer sites when required
