We are currently recruiting for an Expeditor for our Centurion office.
Job Summary
The Expeditor is responsible for ensuring the timely availability and delivery of parts and materials required to meet the production schedule. Operating at the centre of the supply chain, this role drives execution against the master production plan by proactively coordinating suppliers, procurement, logistics, warehouse operations, and internal stakeholders. The Expeditor takes full ownership of order progression, identifies and resolves constraints, and ensures accurate, real-time communication across functions to prevent production delays and meet customer commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse the master production schedule and actively drive supplier performance to ensure on-time delivery of all required components.
- Proactively follow up on purchase orders, supplier commitments, and production progress to eliminate delays and mitigate supply chain risks.
- Coordinate closely with Procurement, Planning, Production, Logistics, Warehouse, and Finance to ensure continuous material flow aligned to production priorities.
- Initiate and track supplier payments where required, in collaboration with Finance, to prevent supply interruptions.
- Monitor collections, deliveries, and receiving activities, ensuring visibility of inbound materials and resolving any logistics constraints.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between purchase orders and delivered goods (quantity, quality, or specification) in collaboration with suppliers and warehouse teams.
- Maintain accurate, real-time updates within the ERP system, including supplier progress, expected delivery dates, and order statuses.
- Communicate daily progress updates to Operations and Planning teams, flagging risks or delays early and clearly to enable corrective action.
- Ensure timely closure of orders following successful receipt (GRN generation).
Supplier & Performance Management
- Track and evaluate supplier performance based on delivery reliability, quality, and adherence to commitments.
- Maintain accurate supplier data to support procurement decision-making and future sourcing strategies.
- Compile monthly supplier performance reports and highlight opportunities for improvement.
Financial & Cost Control
- Support cost control initiatives by monitoring expenses related to procurement and expediting activities.
- Assist the Cost Accountant with quotations, cost tracking, and reporting.
- Identify and escalate risks that may result in increased costs or financial loss.
- Report on cost impacts related to expedited deliveries within agreed parameters.
- Ensure all financial and procurement documentation is accurately maintained in line with company and regulatory requirements.

Additional Responsibilities
- Support sourcing initiatives to improve cost efficiency and supply reliability within assigned categories.
- Oversee company insurance-related activities, including claims and administration.
- Execute any additional tasks as reasonably required by management.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience in procurement, expediting, logistics, supply chain, or manufacturing environments.
- Experience within engineering, mining, manufacturing, or slurry pump industries will be advantageous.
- Experience working with ERP systems.
- Proven experience in supplier coordination and material planning.
Technical Skills
- ERP/MRP systems proficiency.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong reporting and analytical abilities.
- Understanding of procurement and supply chain processes.
- Knowledge of inventory management principles.
