SUMMARY

Our client is looking for two experienced

Mechanical Artisan's to perform preventative, predictive, and breakdown maintenance on production and packaging equipment in a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing environment.

The role involves diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults, maintaining key machinery such as pumps, conveyors, and gearboxes, and supporting equipment setup, changeovers, and installations. The successful candidates will ensure equipment reliability, minimise downtime, and maintain compliance with safety and food manufacturing standards while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualification details

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Recognised Mechanical Trade Test (Fitter, Fitter & Turner, Millwright or equivalent)
  • N3 Mechanical Engineering or higher

Experience

  • 3–5 years post-trade experience in FMCG, food, beverage, packaging, or manufacturing environments.
  • Experience working on automated production and packaging equipment.
  • Experience with pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, pneumatic systems, and process equipment.
  • High-care food manufacturing experience advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative, predictive, and breakdown maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on production and packaging lines.
  • Maintain pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, motors, valves, pipework, fillers, cappers, and processing equipment.
  • Conduct inspections and equipment condition monitoring.
  • Support changeovers, equipment setup, and production start-ups.
  • Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement projects.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, GMP, and food safety requirements.
  • Complete maintenance documentation and job cards accurately.
  • Maintain workshop standards and housekeeping
