MAIN PURPOSE

Ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant transportation of goods, equipment, and personnel in line with operational requirements, while maintaining full vehicle readiness to minimise downtime and support uninterrupted supply chain continuity. Additionally, represent the company professionally at all times when interacting with clients, suppliers, and site personnel.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a similar driving role (preferably mining or industrial environment)
  • Valid Drivers License: Code 10 - with PDP (non negotiable)
  • Experience working on mine sites will be advantageous
  • Must reside in Rustenburg

Key Responsibilities

Driving & Transport Responsibilities

  • Plan routes and delivery schedules to optimise time and fuel efficiency
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections (checklists must be completed daily)
  • Ensure all transported goods are secured properly to prevent damage or loss
  • Verify delivery documentation before departure

Client & Site Interaction

  • Act as the company’s representative on-site (professional conduct)
  • Ensure correct signing and return of delivery notes / PODs
  • Report any discrepancies, delays, or client issues immediately

Stock & Asset Control

  • Verify quantities before loading and after delivery
  • Report shortages, damages, or variances immediately
  • Ensure no unauthorised movement of stock or equipment

Vehicle Management

  • Conduct daily inspection and submit inspection checklist
  • Report defects immediately (no delayed reporting)
  • Track service intervals and escalate upcoming maintenance
  • Ensure vehicle cleanliness at all times (internal and external)
  • Monitor fuel usage and report irregularities

Strengthen Safety & Mining Compliance

  • Comply with all Mine Health & Safety Act requirements
  • Participate in risk assessments (baseline & task-based)
  • Stop work authority – must stop unsafe operations immediately
  • Report all incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions
  • Ensure correct PPE usage at all times
  • Adhere to client site rules

Reporting & Admin Accountability

  • Daily submission of:
    • Logbook
    • Trip sheets
    • Fuel slips
    • Delivery documentation
  • Immediate escalation of:
    • Delays
    • Breakdowns
    • Incidents

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Good judgement and decision-making in operational environments
  • Strong communication with dispatch and supervisors

Technical Competencies

  • Knowledge of mine site driving requirements
  • Understanding of load securing principles
  • Basic mechanical awareness (identify faults early)
  • Familiarity with compliance documentation (PODs, logbooks, inspection sheets)
