SUMMARY
To provide benefit counselling services at a high standard to members of retirement funds.
POSITION INFO
An established insurance company is seeking to hire a highly skilled and experienced Retirement Benefit Counsellor to join their team.
Formal Education
Matric.
NQF 5 will be advantageous.
Experience
At least 1 year’s experience in Benefit Counselling or Employee Benefits administration.
Primary objective
- To deliver a professional and excellent quality of service to members of retirement funds and employers in accordance with the service level agreements and year planners.
- To assist and support retirement fund members and their beneficiaries when exiting the retirement fund, i.e., retirement, death, withdrawal, or retrenchment.
- To ensure client satisfaction on all levels.
- To ensure an effective benefit counselling environment.
Duties
- Assist and support the retirement fund members with factual information regarding fund benefits and their options at retirement, death, withdrawal, and retrenchment.
- Have a good understanding of the fund benefits, options at retirement, death, and withdrawal as well as the in-fund options available to members, including cost structures.
- Process Two Pot claims on the Fund Administrator portal and ensure accurateness.
- Create awareness amongst members of the services available and contact details of the benefit counsellor.
- Liaise monthly with the fund administrator and human resources department to identify members exiting the fund, i.e., retirement, death, withdrawal, and retrenchment.
- Identify all members within 5 years, 1 year, and 6 months of retirement.
- Ensure that members leaving the retirement fund receive the necessary communication via e-mail or any other platform decided on.
- Get values and in-fund retirement and withdrawal quotes from the administrator of the fund.
- Arrange telephonic, virtual, or in-person one-on-one sessions with prospective retirees and provide them with factual information regarding their options at retirement.
- Arrange telephonic, virtual, or in-person one-on-one sessions with prospective resignations and provide them with factual information regarding options at withdrawal from the Fund.
- Facilitate and put members in contact with an Efficient Wealth Manager or Efficient Advisor for independent financial advice when exiting the Fund, if required.
- Provide a quarterly activity report to the Fund Consultant.
- Provide a monthly report to the Managing Director and provide details of the status of each referral.
- Provide ongoing feedback to the consultant.
- Assist employers and members with completion of the documents when/if required.
Compliance to Internal Processes:
- Delivering service and commitments to clients, thus building and maintaining a trust relationship with clients.
- Adherence to compliance as set out in the company compliance manual by the Group.
- Undergo all training required.
- Comply with all Group and EFBC policies.
- Adhere to general administration tasks, filing, and updating SharePoint.
- Update the complaints register.
- Update the gift register.
Clients:
- Build and maintain client relationships.
- Management of client expectations, maintaining proactive relationships and remaining client-focused at all times.
- Assist with the communication to members.
People
- Develop strong relationships with all internal colleagues and external service providers to ensure operational efficiency and discuss product specifics and appropriate training, service, and support.
- Building key relationships with all service providers (i.e., administrators, insurers, individual advisors etc.) and distribution partners.
