POSITION INFO

Introduction A reputable opencast chrome mining operation in the North West Province is seeking a highly experienced Senior Pit Foreman to oversee and manage production activities within the pit. The successful candidate will take accountability for supervising Pit Supervisors and ensuring efficient, safe, and cost-effective mining operations. Key Responsibilities Manage and coordinate daily opencast production activities in line with the mine plan. Provide leadership to Pit Supervisors and ensure production targets are achieved. Monitor productivity, equipment performance, and material movement. Ensure compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA). Conduct inspections, risk assessments, and toolbox talks. Liaise with Mine Planning, Engineering, and Maintenance teams. Compile production reports and drive operational improvements. Minimum Requirements Grade 12 (Matric) Blasting Certificate or relevant Mining Qualification (advantageous) 8–10 years’ experience in opencast mining (chrome preferred) 3–5 years in a Foreman or Senior Supervisory role Experience managing Pit Supervisors Valid driver’s licence Key Competencies Leadership and team management skills Production-focused mindset Problem-solving ability Strong communication skills Safety awareness
