SUMMARY

A Revit Draughtsman is responsible for creating, updating, and coordinating detailed engineering drawings and Building Information Modelling (BIM) models using Autodesk Revit. The role supports engineers, project managers, and construction teams by producing accurate technical documentation for building and infrastructure projects.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

• Produce detailed 2D drawings and 3D BIM models using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Develop engineering drawings for structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
• Prepare layouts, sections, elevations, schedules, shop drawings, and construction documentation.
• Coordinate drawings between architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines.
• Conduct clash detection and resolve design conflicts within BIM models.
• Review engineers' sketches, calculations, and specifications to create accurate construction drawings.
• Update and revise drawings according to design changes and client requirements.
• Prepare "as-built" drawings reflecting completed installations.
• Ensure compliance with South African building regulations, engineering standards, and company drafting procedures.
• Maintain BIM standards, templates, and project documentation.
• Assist with quantity take-offs, material schedules, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
• Attend project meetings and liaise with engineers, architects, contractors, and consultants.
• Mentor junior draughtsmen where required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Grade 12 (Matric).
• National Diploma in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Technology, or Draughting.
• Multi-Disciplinary Draughting Certificate or relevant CAD qualification.
• Autodesk Revit Certification (advantageous).
• AutoCAD Certification (advantageous).
• BIM-related training or certification would be beneficial.

POSITION INFO

Experience Required 2-5 years' experience as a Revit Draughtsman or BIM Modeller within an engineering consultancy. Experience producing structural, civil, architectural, or MEP drawings. Proven experience working on commercial, residential, industrial, or infrastructure projects. Knowledge of BIM workflows and multidisciplinary project coordination. Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and BIM360 is advantageous. Required Skills Advanced Autodesk Revit proficiency. Strong AutoCAD skills. Understanding of BIM principles and coordination processes. Ability to interpret engineering and architectural drawings. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Good problem-solving and analytical abilities. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines. Knowledge of South African construction and engineering standards. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
