MacDonald’s Transport & Warehousing, a trusted logistics leader with more than 90 years of industry excellence, is seeking an experienced and results-driven General Manager: Operations to lead our National Flatdeck Operations based in Upington.

This high-level role is responsible for operational performance, fleet management, customer service delivery, profitability, compliance, and the leadership of multiple operational teams within a fast-paced transport environment.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Leading and overseeing National Flatdeck Operations and associated personnel
• Driving revenue growth, profitability, fleet utilisation, and operational efficiency
• Managing fleet planning, route optimisation, and load scheduling
• Leading operational teams and fostering a culture of accountability and performance
• Monitoring fuel consumption, tracking systems, and DriveCam reporting
• Ensuring compliance with SHEQ, HSE, transport legislation, and company policies
• Investigating accidents and incidents and ensuring corrective actions are implemented
• Maintaining strong customer relationships and service delivery standards
• Managing operational administration, POD control, and reporting
• Preparing and presenting monthly management reports

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Transport Management, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Management, or related field
• Minimum 10 years' management experience within the transport and logistics industry
• Strong knowledge of fleet management, budgeting, transport legislation, and operational planning
• Proven leadership and people management skills
• Experience with fleet tracking and management systems
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
• Ability to perform under pressure and meet demanding operational targets
• Willingness to work extended hours and weekends when required
