SUMMARY
Our client, in the bakery industry requires a Laboratory and Bakery Supervisor. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing laboratory analysis and bakery testing activities to ensure products consistently meet customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and internal quality standards.
POSITION INFO
Key Functions: Manage and supervise the daily operations of the laboratory and test bakery. Oversee physical, chemical, and baking quality testing of wheat, flour, and finished products. Conduct and interpret baking trials to evaluate flour performance and customer specifications. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality and process efficiency. Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate laboratory documentation, test records, and reporting systems. Lead, coach, and develop laboratory and bakery personnel. Investigate non-conformances and implement effective corrective and preventative actions. Collaborate closely with production, procurement, and quality teams. Prepare for and support internal and external audits. Key Requirements: Relevant tertiary qualification in a food-related field (e.g., Food Technology, Consumer Sciences, Food Science, or equivalent). Minimum of 5 years' experience within a food manufacturing or food production environment. Strong technical knowledge of laboratory testing methodologies and baking processes. Proven supervisory or team leadership experience. Knowledge of FSSC 22000 Food Safety Management Systems. Familiarity with YUM quality requirements. Understanding of ISO 17025 laboratory standards and accreditation requirements. Experience within the flour milling industry and/or bakery product development
