JOB SUMMARY
A client of ours is recruiting a Head of People and Culture to lead a well established HR function within a Logistics and Maritime Solutions business based in Durban. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role offers the opportunity to influence business strategy, lead a capable HR team, shape organisational effectiveness, and drive people initiatives across multiple locations. The successful candidate will combine strategic leadership with hands on execution across talent, culture, employee relations, compliance and workforce planning.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
In order to be shortlisted for the vacancy, the successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies, but not limited to:
- BCom in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology or a related discipline
- Postgraduate qualification preferred
- Proven experience leading a people and culture or HR function within a medium to large organisation
- Strong employee and industrial relations experience
- Experience partnering directly with executive leadership teams
- Experience leading organisational design, succession planning and talent management initiatives
- Experience managing HR teams and developing leadership capability
- Strong knowledge of South African employment legislation, Employment Equity and BEE requirements
- Experience overseeing payroll and statutory compliance
- Ability to drive change, transformation and business improvement initiatives
- Exposure to logistics, maritime, transport, supply chain or other operationally intensive industries will be advantageous
The role responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Lead the people strategy in alignment with business objectives
- Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and senior leadership team
- Drive organisational design, workforce planning and succession planning initiatives
- Lead employee and industrial relations matters including complex investigations, disciplinary processes and dispute resolution
- Support transformation, restructuring and organisational change initiatives
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding and retention strategies
- Drive performance management and leadership development programmes
- Identify capability gaps and implement learning and development initiatives
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation, governance frameworks and company policies
- Oversee payroll operations and statutory compliance requirements
- Manage people metrics, reporting and workforce analytics
- Provide strategic recommendations to the executive team based on people data and workforce trends
- Support Employment Equity, BEE and workforce compliance reporting requirements
- Lead and develop a high performing HR team
