Position: Senior Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineer
Location: South Africa
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior EC&I Engineer to join our Underground Mining team in South Africa. In this role, you will support the delivery of complex mining projects, primarily focused on underground mining infrastructure. You will be responsible for designing electrical, control, and instrumentation systems and delivering high-quality engineering solutions from scoping through to feasibility and site implementation. You will play a key role in ensuring efficient project delivery, maintaining strong client relationships, and contributing to business development initiatives

Skills And Competencies
Core functions
- Design electrical, control, and instrumentation (EC&I) systems for underground mining operations
- Lead and deliver projects from concept through to feasibility and execution
- Act as Project Manager or technical lead where required
- Prepare detailed technical reports and engineering documentation
- Develop electrical distribution systems (MV and LV), schematics, and layouts
- Review and evaluate vendor proposals and technical specifications
- Support cost estimation, commissioning, and project delivery
- Conduct peer reviews and provide technical leadership
- Mentor and support junior engineers and team members
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Contribute to proposals and business development opportunities
- Ensure compliance with company standards, risk management, and HSE procedures

Qualifications And Experience
- A degree in Electrical Engineering (BEng, BSc or equivalent)
- A minimum of 9-15 years of practical experience as relevant to the responsibilities listed above.
- Experience in designing EC&I systems, including medium and low voltage (MV & LV) electrical distribution systems, control systems and instrumentation design, schematics, connection diagrams, and layouts.
- Strong experience in engineering studies (concept to feasibility)
- Experience in both brownfields and Greenfields projects
- Experience in technical specifications and scope development, vendor evaluation and cost estimation, FAT/SAT and commissioning support, project management and delivery
- Knowledge of relevant national and international standards and regulations
- Strong report writing and communication skills
- Proficiency in engineering software (ETAP experience desirable)
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage projects
