Position: Senior Mechanical Engineer
Location: South Africa
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Underground Mining team in South Africa. In this role, you will support the delivery of complex mining projects, applying your technical expertise across all project stages, from scoping and feasibility to mine site assessments. You will ensure high-quality, efficient project delivery while building and maintaining strong client relationships and contributing to business development.

Core functions
- Lead and deliver mechanical engineering work across mining projects
- Manage projects to ensure delivery within scope, time, budget, and quality requirements
- Prepare high-quality technical reports for clients across all project phases
- Act as Project Manager or technical lead as required
- Conduct peer reviews and provide technical oversight
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support proposal development
- Mentor and support junior team members
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Identify and support business development opportunities
- Ensure compliance with company standards, risk management, and HSE procedures

Qualifications And Experience
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng / BSc or equivalent)
- A minimum of 9-15 years of practical experience as relevant to the responsibilities listed above.
- Strong experience in engineering studies (concept through to feasibility)
- Experience in both brownfields and Greenfields projects
- Knowledge of mining systems including decline and shaft access, materials handling, fleet selection and maintenance, personnel and hydrocarbon transport systems and other mine infrastructure
- Experience in technical report writing and specifications, vendor evaluation and cost estimation, commissioning and quality control, project management
- Strong understanding of relevant codes, standards, and regulations
