Civil Engineer (Technologist)

Our client, a consulting engineering company, is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer or Engineering Technologist to join their dynamic civil department in Cape Town.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects, including commercial, residential, industrial, and infrastructure developments, while supporting project lead engineers in delivering high-quality engineering solutions.

• Produce detailed engineering drawings (layouts and details) and models using Civil 3D and AutoCAD
• Assist in the design of civil services including bulk earthworks, sewer, stormwater, and water systems
• Collaborate closely with engineers and multidisciplinary teams to meet project requirements
• Review and evaluate drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards
• Coordinate services across disciplines for seamless project delivery
• Update and modify CAD drawings throughout the project lifecycle
• Manage deadlines while maintaining a high standard of technical output
• Maintain an organised library of CAD files and project documentation
• Assist with preparation of Tender documents, Bills of quantities, Project specifications, Civil services reports, Meeting minutes
• Conduct site visits and perform quality control checks

Minimum Requirements

• B.Tech / B.Eng / BSc in Civil Engineering
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
• Strong portfolio demonstrating relevant project work
• Extensive experience in Civil 3D and AutoCAD
• Solid understanding of project stages from inception to close-out

Key Competencies & Experience

• Experience on commercial, residential, and industrial projects
• Exposure to local council projects (City of Cape Town, Drakenstein, Stellenbosch) Strong knowledge of Engineering drawing standards, Construction documentation, Local building codes and regulations
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

Additional Requirements

• Valid driver’s license and own vehicle (essential for site visits)
• Civil 3D and AutoCAD certifications (advantageous)
• Experience with ISO 9001 standards (beneficial)
