Retail Floor Manager

The Retail Floor Manager is responsible for driving daily sales, maintaining visual standards, and managing floor staff(but not limited to floor only) This is a high-visibility, "hands-on" leadership role requiring a constant presence on the shop floor rather than behind a desk (however as you will be part of a team placing orders and ensuring stock avalibilty this may be required at times). You will be the bridge between the product and the customer, ensuring the floor functions efficiently, remains compliant, and consistently meet sales and standard expectations
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Floor Leadership: Supervise all daily shop floor operations, including opening/closing procedures of the store,floorwalks etc.
- Team Management: train, motivate,and roster daily schedules for floor merchandisors aswell as leave schedules , action IR related issues such as poor time keeping and absenteeism etc,aswell as manage supplier merchandisors instore , manage productivity of staff aswell in all aspects.
- Customer Excellence: Resolve customer issues quickly on the floor and within the store, providing a welcoming environment that builds brand loyalty and ensure repeat customers to the store.
- Visual Merchandising: Ensure the store layout, promotional displays and everyday product pricing standards comply with company policy ,such as shelf edge labels, GAP policy maintained, driving out of stocks with suppliers and buyers at the DC alike.
- Stock Control: Monitor inventory levels, oversee replenishment from the stockroom to the shopfloor and oversee daily orders being placed including promotional orders,ensure stock rotation and expired stock is actioned on a daily basis, and actively work to reduce shrinkage in all aspects of the business.
- Performance Metrics: Monitor out of stocks and action daily, merchandising standards maintained as per company requirements,promotional activity adhered to in all departments within the store, monitor and improve staff productivity to maximise profitability.
- Health & Safety: Maintain strict store cleanliness, hygiene protocols, and security procedures for personnel and assets, ensure store is compliant with all daily OHS and food safety requirements
Requirements and Qualifications
- Education: Grade 12 or equivalent National Senior Certificate; a diploma or degree in retail, hospitality, or business management is a distinct advantage.
- Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of experience as a Floor Manager, Supervisor, or Assistant Store Manager in a busy retail environment.
- Skills: Strong face-to-face communication, team leadership, conflict resolution, and basic analytical skills.
- Systems: Competence operating standard Point of Sale (POS) systems.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, and remain highly active on the retail floor for extended periods.
- Availability: Must be willing to work retail hours, including mandatory weekend shifts, public holidays, and peak holiday seasons.
