Production Manager (Heavy Engineering/Fabrication)

Are you a hands-on leader with deep experience in steel fabrication and heavy engineering? Sapientis is recruiting a Production Manager for a leading industrial manufacturer in Springs. We need a practical, operationally strong leader to own the day-to-day throughput, quality, and discipline of a bustling workshop floor.

This is a "boots-on-the-ground" leadership role. You will bridge the gap between engineering plans and shopfloor reality, ensuring that welding, boilermaking, and assembly teams hit their targets while maintaining a culture of safety and excellence.

Your Key Mandate

• Shopfloor Leadership: Manage daily production across welding, painting, fitting, and assembly.
• Workflow Optimization: Translate production plans into practical execution, managing sequences, bottlenecks, and labor productivity.
• Quality & Discipline: Drive "right-first-time" workmanship and enforce strict adherence to drawings, specs, and safety standards.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement practical ways to reduce waste, improve lead times, and optimize workshop layout.
• People Management: Supervise and develop team leaders; build a culture of accountability and high morale.

Requirements

• Sector Experience: Proven leadership in heavy engineering, steel fabrication, or industrial manufacturing.
• Technical Credibility: Ability to read engineering drawings and a strong understanding of welding, boilermaking, and assembly processes.
• Leadership: A hands-on style with experience managing diverse workshop teams.
• Qualifications: Technical qualification (Mechanical/Production) or a recognized Trade background is highly preferred.
• Location: Must be based in or able to commute to Springs, Gauteng.
