National Sales Manager

The National Sales Manager is a senior commercial leadership role responsible for driving nationwide sales performance, revenue growth, and market share expansion within the Food/FMCG sector. The role provides strategic direction to the national sales organization while strengthening distribution capabilities and execution excellence across all channels

Sales Strategy & Execution

Develop and implement a robust national sales strategy aligned with overall business objectives and local market realities. Translate strategic priorities into practical and executable plans across all regions and sales channels to ensure sustainable growth and market penetration.

Revenue & Performance Management

Take ownership of the national sales budget and drive the achievement of annual volume, value, and profitability targets. Monitor performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions where necessary to ensure business objectives are consistently met.

Distribution & Route-to-Market Excellence

Lead the selection, onboarding, and ongoing performance management of Key Distributors (KDs). Continuously optimize Route-to-Market (RTM) models to improve product availability, market coverage, and customer penetration, particularly within open markets ,must have distribution experience and key contacts within the national retail stores,checkers,pick n pay,spars,dischem etc

Channel Development

Drive sustainable growth across Modern Trade, General Trade, and and movement in all channelschannels. Ensure strong execution standards and consistent customer engagement across all trade and customer touchpoints.

People Leadership

Provide strong leadership, coaching, and development to Regional Sales Managers and field sales teams. Foster a high-performance, accountability-driven sales culture that promotes teamwork, discipline, and continuous improvement nationwide.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with Marketing and Supply Chain teams to align promotional activities, demand planning, and inventory availability. Support the successful execution of new product launches and trade activation initiatives to maximize market impact.

Market Intelligence & Reporting

Monitor competitor activities, pricing trends, and overall market dynamics to identify opportunities and risks. Prepare and present actionable market insights and performance reports to senior leadership to support informed decision-making.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related discipline. An MBA or relevant professional certification will be advantageous.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ sales experience within the /FMCG industry, including at least 5 years in a senior national or regional leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of the National consumer market, with proven experience managing distributor networks across the six geopolitical zones.
  • Demonstrated expertise in sales analytics, forecasting, and CRM systems/tools.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively across regions as required.

The salary bracket is negotiable on experience.
