CNC Horizontal Milling Programmer, Setter & Operator

We are seeking a skilled and experienced CNC Horizontal Milling Programmer, Setter & Operator to join our machining team based in Kya Sands. The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting, and operating CNC horizontal milling machines using Fanuc controls and Edgecam software to manufacture precision-engineered components to exact specifications.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high quality and productivity standards.

Program CNC horizontal milling machines using Edgecam software.

Set up and operate CNC horizontal machining centres with Fanuc controls.

Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical specifications.

Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and machining strategies for efficient production.

Perform machine setup including datum setting, tool offsets, probing, and fixture alignment.

Conduct first-off inspections and ensure components meet dimensional tolerances and quality requirements.

Optimise machining cycles to improve efficiency and reduce machining time.

Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments during production runs.

Carry out routine maintenance and housekeeping of machines and work areas.

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.

Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality departments to resolve machining or process issues.

Maintain accurate production and inspection records.

Support continuous improvement initiatives within the machine shop.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum 5 years experience as a CNC Horizontal Milling Programmer, Setter & Operator.

Valid drivers license

Own reliable transport

Must reside within reasonable distance from Kya Sands

Strong working knowledge of Fanuc controls.

Experience using Edgecam CAD/CAM software.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and geometric tolerances.

Experience machining precision components in various materials including steels, stainless steel, aluminium, and exotic alloys.

Solid understanding of tooling, feeds, speeds, and machining principles.

Experience with multi-axis horizontal machining centres preferred.

Competence in the use of precision measuring instruments including micrometers, verniers, bore gauges, and dial indicators.

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Ability to work independently and meet production deadlines.

Good communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Trade Test / Technical Qualification in Machining, Toolmaking, or Mechanical Engineering.

Experience in high-precision manufacturing environments such as aerospace, automotive, mining, or heavy engineering.

Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.

Experience with pallet systems and automated machining cells advantageous.
