Business Development Manager

Alliance Media

This is a senior, high-impact role at the heart of Alliance Media's commercial strategy. As Business Development Executive, you will own the entire product lifecycle — from sourcing and securing prime landlord sites to managing lease portfolios, overseeing capital expenditure rollouts, and ensuring our media assets remain premium and revenue-generating.

You will be the key relationship manager for both existing and prospective landlords, with a mandate to grow our footprint across South Africa and, where required, other African territories.

Strategic Landlord Management

  • Manage and grow relationships with existing municipal, private, and concession landlords
  • Negotiate and renew leases proactively — a minimum of 9 months before expiry
  • Accurately capture all lease costs and ensure timely, compliant payments
  • Identify and approach new landlords; negotiate and execute new lease agreements

Site & Business Development

  • Research and identify high-value new site opportunities — including competitor sites and tenders
  • Prepare compelling proposals, pitch decks, and tender submissions
  • Develop and deliver presentations to prospective landlords and key stakeholders
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry events to inform strategy

Capital Expenditure & Project Management

  • Plan, procure, and oversee the installation of media structures on new and existing sites
  • Manage capex projects end-to-end — structure selection, procurement, logistics, foundation, installation, and illumination
  • Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to budget

Product & Data Management

  • Maintain and enhance the Cost of Sales register and CRM/data systems
  • Track and report on occupancies, maintenance, site development, and capex variances
  • Submit accurate weekly progress reports to the Commercial Head
  • Implement routine and ad hoc maintenance programmes to keep media assets premium
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field (MBA advantageous)
  • Minimum 5–7 years' professional experience, with at least 3 years in a senior business development or commercial management role
  • Proven track record in landlord/client relationship management or property leasing
  • Experience managing complex data sets and producing meaningful management reports
  • Project management experience, particularly in infrastructure or media rollouts
  • Experience working across other African markets is a significant advantage
