The National Housing Finance Corporation (NHFC) seeks a strategic and commercially astute Credit Risk Executive to lead and oversee the organisation’s credit function in support of its developmental housing mandate. The purpose of the role is to ensure that lending and credit exposure are managed responsibly, sustainably, and in alignment with strategic objectives and governance requirements. The role is further responsible for maintaining relationships across the credit value chain, ensuring thorough due diligence and enforcement of credit policies, frameworks, and procedures on all funding applications to support sound credit decision-making, providing strategic advice on risk appetite and risk profile at an organizational level.

Evaluation of credit and strategic investment applications: Evaluate credit and strategic investment proposals submitted by business units, including but not limited to analysis and assessments of debt pricing and transaction structures.

Enhancement of loan pricing and strategic equity evaluation models: Provide enhance strategic loan pricing and valuation models to relevant committees for review and approval.

Risk Appetite and Risk Profile Advisory: Collaborate with enterprise-wide risk and finance; provide strategic input into risk appetite at both business unit and organisational level.

Credit Risk Governance: Provide strategic oversight of credit approval and risk-mitigation processes, ensuring that lending decisions remain within the approved risk appetite and comply with applicable legislation (including but not limited to, the King IV Report, PFMA and Treasury Regulations) as well as internal governance standards.

Enhancement of Credit Policies & Procedures: Continuous assessment and improvement of credit policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with governance frameworks and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Leadership : Drive and lead initiatives within the credit function, ensuring performance and alignment with the credit strategy, organisational mandate, and overall business objectives.

Qualifications

  • B Com ( Financial Management, Accounting,Risk Management or related field)
  • Post graduate qualification (NQF 9) would be advantageous (MBA/CFA/CA etc ).

Experience

  • 10 years’ experience in commercial credit risk/lending environment.
  • 5 years leadership or committee exposure(credit/investment committee/risk committee.
  • Strong decision-making experience with regards to credit.
