Company Overview - Seven Founders Pty Ltd
Fortuna Limited is a well-established fishing and maritime services company headquartered in Stanley, Falkland Islands. The company has developed extensive expertise in commercial fishing, logistics, cargo operations, and passenger transport across remote maritime regions, with a strong focus on sustainable fisheries and vessel operations. Following a successful concession award, Fortuna will assume responsibility for the Tristan da Cunha concession from 1 January 2027. The concession includes operation of the Tristan Island lobster fishery and the introduction of a dedicated cargo and passenger vessel providing essential transport and supply services to the island.
All operational and logistical activities will be coordinated from Cape Town, South Africa, which will serve as the main base for both fishing and maritime transport operations. To support this, Fortuna has established a wholly owned South African subsidiary, Seven Founders (Pty) Ltd, which will manage all local business, operational, and administrative activities from the Port of Cape Town.
Role Overview
The Operations, Logistics & Safety Manager will play a central operational role within Seven Founders (Pty) Ltd, acting as the coordination point for vessel administration, operational planning, logistics, and safety management.
The primary focus of the role will be supporting commercial fishing operations, while also providing operational support to the cargo and passenger vessel servicing Tristan da Cunha.
The role will require close collaboration with vessel crews, port service providers, contractors, and the broader management team. The successful candidate will also provide support and operational coverage to the procurement, clearing and forwarding function, as well as assisting the Superintendent Engineer in coordinating maintenance planning and technical logistics.
This position combines office-based operational management with regular time spent in port, onboard vessels, and within operational environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations, production and logistics planning for fishing and maritime transport activities
- Act as the Safety Management System (ISM) Manager, ensuring compliance with maritime safety procedures
- Coordinate vessel administration, operational planning, and scheduling
- Act as a central coordination point between vessels, shore operations, suppliers, and contractors
- Develop and implement operational systems, procedures, and process improvements
- Monitor operational performance, cost control, and logistics efficiency
- Support of maintenance planning, repairs, and servicing schedules in coordination with the Superintendent Engineer
- Support procurement, clearing and forwarding activities where required
Key Requirements
- Minimum 5 years COMMERCIAL FISHING industry experience, maritime and vessel operations
- HACCP formal training and practical knowledge
- Safety Management System (ISM) knowledge
- BCom degree or similar relevant qualification
- Strong administration and operational planning capability
- Human resource management skills
- Familiar with the Port of Cape Town and operational areas
- Proficient in MS Office and digital systems
- Strong organisational and documentation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to work within a systems-driven operational environment
Salary
- R80 – R100K per month (based on industry experience and subject to review per candidate)
