A dynamic and growing accounting practice based in Somerset West is seeking a skilled and experienced Account Manager to join its professional team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance, while building strong long-term client relationships.

This role is ideal for a proactive professional who thrives in a client-focused environment and enjoys mentoring junior team members, delivering strategic financial insights, and contributing to the growth of the practice.

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reconciliations
  • Manage and maintain accurate accounting records for a portfolio of clients
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and provide meaningful financial insights
  • Compile annual financial statements in accordance with applicable reporting standards
  • Prepare and submit VAT, income tax, provisional tax, and dividend tax returns
  • Manage SARS correspondence, queries, and dispute resolution processes
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax legislation, and internal procedures
  • Supervise, mentor, and review the work of trainees and junior staff members
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through professional service delivery
  • Identify opportunities to add value and support client business growth
  • Collaborate with auditors and tax consultants to ensure integrated client solutions
  • Ensure all deadlines and budget requirements are met effectively
  • Qualified Accountant (SAIPA / SAIBA / SAICA / CIMA or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 4–5 years post-articles experience within an accounting practice
  • Proven experience managing a client portfolio of 15+ clients
  • Previous team management and mentoring experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting, taxation, and financial reporting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Professional, proactive, and client-service driven approach
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability
