Data Engineering & BI Lead

Data Engineering & BI Lead (Hybrid – Cape Town)_Candidates must be based in Cape Town!

This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role reporting directly to the CEO, responsible for building and scaling the organisation’s end-to-end data infrastructure, BI reporting, and analytics function.

5+ years’ experience in data engineering with strong BI exposure in a platform or B2B2C environment

Advanced SQL and Python (pandas, Airflow, dbt)

Strong experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and data warehouses from scratch

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)

Proven ability to build and maintain BI dashboards (Power BI, Tableau, or Looker)

Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and documentation standards

Experience translating complex data into clear business insights for senior stakeholders

Commercially aware with strong problem-solving and communication skills

Experience with cohort analysis and segmentation frameworks advantageous

Payment gateway or transaction data experience

Mobile app analytics (e.g. AppsFlyer)

Retool or similar low-code tools

Board-level reporting experience
