A leading retail group operating SPAR, SUPERSPAR, and TOPS stores across the Western Cape is seeking an experienced Retail Financial Accountant to join their Head Office team. This role is ideal for a detail-driven finance professional with strong FMCG retail experience who can take ownership of financial reporting, compliance, and retail financial performance.

Retail Financial Accountant

Blackheath, Cape Town

08:00 – 17:00 and alternate Saturdays from 8am to 1pm.

A leading retail group operating SPAR, SUPERSPAR, and TOPS stores across the Western Cape is seeking an experienced Retail Financial Accountant to join their Head Office team.

This role is ideal for a detail-driven finance professional with strong FMCG retail experience who can take ownership of financial reporting, compliance, and retail financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and perform month-end close
• Process journals and balance sheet reconciliations
• Handle VAT, PAYE, UIF, and statutory submissions
• Monitor gross profit, stock variances, and financial performance
• Manage fixed assets and cash controls
• Liaise with auditors, banks, and service providers
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and store operations

Requirements

• BCom Honours + 4 years' experience OR CA(SA) + 2 years' experience
• Essential: FMCG retail accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of retail finance, SARS requirements, and stock control
• Advanced Excel and ERP system experience
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
