Water Resources Engineer - Hydrology Engineer

Our client is looking for an experienced Water Resources Engineer to support the delivery of complex hydrology and hydraulics projects from their Gauteng office. This position offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging assignments involving flood studies, water balance modelling, hydraulic design, and surface water management within the mining and industrial sectors.
Requirements
- BSc Eng (Civil) or BEng (Civil) / MSc or MEng in Hydrology and Hydraulics
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in hydrology and water resources engineering.
- Strong understanding of surface water management principles.
- Familiarity with mining and industrial water management practices.
- Software Proficiency: GoldSim. HEC-RAS, PCSWMM, WRSM2005, UPFLOOD, Flo-2D. QGIS or ArcGIS. AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Valid South African driver’s licence.
Responsibilities
- Acquire, validate, and interpret hydrological data for project applications.
- Perform catchment assessments and runoff modelling.
- Calculate flood peaks using recognised industry methodologies.
- Develop and review water balance models using GoldSim.
- Conduct floodline studies and assess flood-related risks and impacts.
- Carry out hydraulic modelling including canal flow analysis and backwater profiling.
- Design spillways and assess flood attenuation requirements.
- Complete dam break analyses and erosion control assessments.
- Produce detailed technical reports and engineering recommendations.
- Support project planning, scheduling, and client engagement activities
