Valuations Specialist

GAEL is an independent administrator providing a range of specialist outsourced administration and ancillary services. We are a growing company in the fund administration space with an agile and client-focused team.
Responsibilities
Clients
• Establish excellent client relationships and maintain a high quality of professional service.
• Ensure timeous resolution of all client queries.
Valuations
• Prepare portfolio Net Asset Value (“NAV”) calculations, with a focus on accurate accounting record-keeping, and processes, following established standard operating procedures and controls.
• Capture portfolio trades, corporate actions, pricing, and reconcile external scrip and custodian accounts to internal records.
• Liaise with fund managers, brokers, custodians, and other relevant external parties.
• Manage own workload and deliverables based on agreed service levels.
• Assist with ad-hoc client requests.
Team
• Assist with supervision and mentorship of Junior Valuations Specialists.
• Assist team members with ad-hoc tasks.
Financial Statements
• Assist with the preparation of Annual Financial Statements (“AFS”).
• Assist with effecting changes required by clients/auditors with the third-party providers.
• Collaborate with the team to facilitate communication with external auditors, ensuring the prompt and efficient execution of the audit process.
Administration
• Prepare, document, and maintain standard operating and client specific procedures, and ensure these are always adhered to.
• Ensure all record-keeping is kept up to date, and any electronic or physical filing is kept neat and orderly.
Other
• Any additional responsibilities as required within the Company from time to time.

Experience
• A minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in valuations and fund accounting.
• Completed audit articles beneficial.
• Expertise with fund administration software, particularly PFS-Paxus.
• Experience in working with data, including proficiency in tools like MS Excel (VBA), SQL, and similar applications is beneficial.
Qualifications
• Relevant tertiary qualification(s), such as Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Business Science, or similar with accounting subjects.
• Minimum Requirement NQF Level 6

• Market-related and commensurate with experience and seniority.
Eligibility
• Available to candidates currently residing in Cape Town.
• Candidates must be able to work remotely as well as be able to commute to our office.
