Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP)

An industry leader in contract mining and mining services company operating across multiple sites in South Africa, is seeking to appoint a dynamic and experienced Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to support its Eastern Limb Operations. This is a senior operational HR role requiring a highly hands-on individual with extensive experience in labour relations, employee relations, union engagement, and HR management within the mining industry.

Minimum requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Human Resources Management, Labour Relations, Industrial Psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in Human Resources, Employee Relations, or Labour Relations.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience within the mining, contract mining, construction, or heavy industrial sector.
  • Proven experience working within highly unionised environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of South African labour legislation and employment practices.
  • Proven experience handling CCMA, Bargaining Council, disciplinary, grievance, and incapacity matters.
  • Experience in wage negotiations and union engagement will be advantageous.
  • Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel extensively between sites.

Key responsibilities

The successful incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Acting as the primary HR Business Partner to Site Managers and operational leadership teams.
  • Providing professional HR and labour relations support across multiple mining operations.
  • Managing employee relations, disciplinary hearings, grievances, incapacity processes, and dispute resolution.
  • Representing the company in CCMA and Bargaining Council matters.
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with recognised trade unions and employee representatives.
  • Participating in collective bargaining and wage negotiation processes.
  • Supporting workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, and labour management initiatives.
  • Providing guidance and support to site-based HR Administrators.
  • Ensuring compliance with labour legislation, company policies, procedures, and collective agreements.
  • Assisting with organisational change, restructuring, workforce optimisation, and consultation processes.
  • Supporting Employment Equity, performance management, and employee development initiatives.
  • Monitoring HR trends, risks, and workforce metrics to support operational decision-making.General financial administration and collaboration with other departments
