SUMMARY: Our Property Management client requires a
Facilities Manager to manage a facility in the Howick/Hilton area. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that a building, infrastructure, and related services operate efficiently, safely, and effectively. The role combines administration, maintenance, safety, and people management.
POSITION INFO
Duties and responsibilities: Building Maintenance and Operations - Oversee daily operations of buildings and facilities - Ensure proper functioning of: Electrical reticulation systems Plumbing systems HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) Lighting systems Elevators and generators -Schedule preventive and corrective maintenance Health and Safety Management - Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations - Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments - Implement emergency procedures and evacuation plans - Monitor fire safety systems and equipment Space Management - Allocate and optimize office or building space - Plan office layouts and workspace utilization - Coordinate relocations and renovations Security Management - Supervise security systems and personnel - Monitor access control and surveillance systems - Ensure protection of assets, employees, and visitors Budgeting and Cost Control -Prepare facility budgets - Monitor operational expenses - Control maintenance and utility costs - Negotiate contracts with vendors and service providers Vendor and Contract Management - Hire and supervise contractors and suppliers - Evaluate service quality - Manage service agreements and procurement processes Environmental and Sustainability Management - Promote energy efficiency and waste reduction - Ensure environmental compliance - Implement sustainable building practices Asset Management - Maintain records of equipment and property assets - Track repairs, replacements, and warranties - Plan for asset lifecycle management Customer/Occupant Services - Address complaints and facility-related requests - Ensure a comfortable and productive environment - Coordinate cleaning, catering, and support services Compliance and Documentation - Maintain facility records and reports - Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements - Prepare inspection and audit documentation Key Requirements Matric and tertiary qualification Minimum 5 years' experience in similar role Own transport with drivers' licence Computer literate (Office 365) Technical knowledge of building systems Budgeting and financial management skills
