SENIOR HOUSEKEEPING SUPERVISOR
Helderberg Wine Route: Stellenbosch: My client, an esteemed 5-Star Guest Lodge situated in the heart of the Cape Winelands, has a vacancy for a Senior Housekeeping Supervisor to support the Housekeeping Manager in overseeing the daily housekeeping operations of the property, ensuring exceptional standards of cleanliness, presentation, and guest satisfaction across guest accommodation, public areas, and back-of-house facilities. The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader with strong supervisory abilities, a thorough understanding of housekeeping Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), inventory control processes, staff training, and a passion for delivering outstanding hospitality standards.

Key Responsibilities Include but Are Not Limited To Operations: Support the Housekeeping Manager with daily planning, coordination, and supervision. Staff Supervision: Support and guide staff to ensure high-efficiency and quality. Room Inspections: Inspect guest rooms and public areas to maintain top cleanliness. Room Approvals: Sign off on rooms for occupancy following property procedures. SOP Compliance: Enforce housekeeping SOPs and safe working practices consistently. Productivity: Monitor staff output and turnaround times to maximize efficiency. Team Development: Assist with recruitment, training, coaching, and performance management. Training: Run ongoing skills development to maintain service excellence. Team Culture: Build a positive, motivated, and collaborative workplace culture. Inventory Control: Manage stock levels for linen, amenities, and cleaning supplies. Stock Management: Assist with stock counts, reconciliations, and cost controls. Maintenance: Identify and report maintenance issues promptly for quick resolution. Room Turnaround: Ensure stayover and departure rooms are serviced on time. Lost & Found: Oversee lost-and-found procedures according to company policy. Guest Relations: Resolve guest requests and housekeeping queries quickly. Admin Support: Handle departmental administration, record keeping, and reporting. General Duties: Perform ad hoc tasks to support the overall operation Criteria Minimum 3-5 years' housekeeping experience within a hotel, lodge, guest house, or hospitality environment Previous supervisory experience essential Strong knowledge of housekeeping procedures, standards, and best practices Proven experience implementing and maintaining housekeeping SOPs Experience with inventory management, stock control, and housekeeping administration Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and motivate a housekeeping team Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and people-management skills Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail Ability to multitask, prioritise effectively, and perform well under pressure Positive, enthusiastic, and service-driven approach Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities Proficiency in English with a good command of Afrikaans Familiarity with Opera, Apex, or similar property management systems advantageous Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments Remuneration and Hours of Work Market-related salary offered, dependent on qualifications and experience.
