AI Quality Control Assistant

Blue Oak Consulting

The AI Quality Control Assistant ensures that Blue Oak Consulting maintains its standard of analytical precision across all internal reporting and documentation. We are looking for someone currently based in South Africa to join us on a part-time contract paid at a fixed wage. This hybrid position involves a mix of remote work and time spent in the office to collaborate with our project teams.

About Blue Oak Consulting

Blue Oak Consulting provides independent advisory on pricing, portfolio economics, capital allocation, and acquisition assumptions. We are not a traditional consulting firm focused on broad transformation programs or high level strategy decks. Instead, we interrogate specific commercial decisions where the financial stakes are high and the existing narrative is not sufficient. Our team looks past corporate language and P&L complexity to identify where value is leaking or capital is trapped. We work across sectors like software, manufacturing, and healthcare to test whether the assumptions behind a growth plan or an acquisition actually hold under pressure. We are a small, principal led firm where the people who do the work are the ones accountable for the results. We do not take transaction contingent fees, which allows us to be completely honest about whether the economics of a decision make sense. Our goal is to provide clarity through financial discipline and a healthy amount of skepticism.

The role

Working in this role means joining a structured internal environment where documentation accuracy is the highest priority. You will be responsible for the quality control of internal documents, drafts, and summaries that have been produced with AI assistance. Your job is to act as a rigorous final check, ensuring that every claim made in a report is supported by the underlying source material and data. This is a disciplined, process oriented role that requires you to follow detailed review instructions while maintaining a healthy level of skepticism toward any unverified statements. You will work closely with our analysts to ensure our internal QA and documentation workflows remain consistent and reliable.

What you will be doing

  • Reviewing AI-assisted drafts, summaries, and internal reporting to ensure clarity and logical flow.
  • Checking specific commercial claims against original source material and financial data.
  • Verifying factual consistency throughout long form internal documents and technical reports.
  • Identifying and flagging unsupported, unclear, or inaccurate statements before they reach senior stakeholders.
  • Following detailed review instructions to maintain a common standard across different projects.
  • Documenting recurring issues or inconsistencies found during the review process.
  • Escalating unclear cases or complex data points to the principal team for further interrogation.
  • Maintaining consistency across repeated review tasks to ensure all internal outputs meet company standards.

What we are looking for

  • A recent degree or current studies in finance, economics, business, or a related analytical field.
  • A high level of comfort with data and a curious, investigative mindset.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to spot subtle inconsistencies in written text.
  • The ability to follow structured instructions while also thinking critically about the logic of a document.
  • Strong written communication skills and a preference for plain, direct English over corporate jargon.
  • Residency in South Africa and the ability to work in a hybrid arrangement.
  • A professional approach to meeting deadlines and managing volume within a part-time schedule.

What the role offers

  • Paid contract engagement with an attractive fixed wage for the South African market.
  • Hybrid work flexibility, allowing you to balance remote productivity with office-based collaboration.
  • Direct exposure to the analytical methods and financial discipline of a principal-led advisory firm.
  • The opportunity to build professional experience in quality control and internal documentation workflows.
  • A work environment that values skepticism and factual accuracy over decorative corporate language.

This role is a strong match for someone who enjoys looking under the hood of a project to see if the logic actually holds up. If you are a junior professional or student with an interest in financial discipline and a rigorous approach to editing, you will find our way of working very productive. This position offers the chance to contribute to high stakes decision making processes by ensuring the foundation of our work is accurate and reliable.
