SUMMARY
We are seeking an accomplished
National Credit and Risk Manager to take ownership of our Client's credit governance, debtor portfolio, and collections function. This pivotal role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in credit management, risk mitigation, and working capital optimisation. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, safeguard financial stability, and ensure alignment with business growth objectives, while driving operational excellence across all credit and risk processes.
POSITION INFO
Key Responsibilities Credit Applications & Account Management Review and authorise credit applications, ensuring compliance with policies and insurance parameters. Assess creditworthiness using financial information, bureau reports, and supporting documentation. Open and register new customer accounts, ensuring accurate classification and record management. Collections & Problem Accounts Monitor overdue accounts, investigate unpaid invoices, and implement holds or suspensions where necessary. Negotiate repayment terms and settlements, prepare Acknowledgements of Debt, and track adherence. Initiate and coordinate legal action in cases of nonâpayment, liaising with attorneys or collection agencies. Legal & Recovery Processes Manage claims against liquidated debtors or customers in business rescue. Prepare and submit Proof of Claims, affidavits, and supporting documentation to liquidators. Recommend bad debt provisions or writeâoffs in line with policy. Credit Control & Governance Define departmental objectives, policies, and performance standards. Lead and motivate the credit control team, ensuring adherence to procedures and high performance. Report on departmental performance, risks, and operational outcomes to senior management. Compliance & Insurance Ensure compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS). Manage relationships with credit insurance partners, oversee applications, notifications, and claims. Trade Finance & Working Capital Oversee trade finance facilities, assess associated risks, and monitor utilisation. Prepare weekly cash receipt forecasts and authorise payments in line with mandates. Ad Hoc & Reporting Support credit controllers with escalated accounts. Prepare debtor reports, provisions, and audit documentation. Assist with annual internal and external audits. Qualifications Grade 12 Diploma in Credit or Risk Management (NQF Level 6) BCom in Credit, Risk Management, or Finance (advantageous) Experience Minimum 15 years' credit experience At least 5 years in a senior management role Only candidates who have experience within the freight & logistics industry will be considered Competencies Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills Financial analysis and acumen Problemâsolving, planning, and organisational ability Assertiveness, integrity, and proactive decisionâmaking Ability to manage diversity, change, and conflict under pressure
