An outstanding opportunity exists for a highly experienced or semi-retired professional seeking a permanent opportunity to remain actively involved in the industry FINAL INSPECTION - QUALITY CONTROLLERS x5 to join a busy and well-established commercial truck dealership group with multiple branches across South Africa ( JHB / KZN / MPU).
- This position is ideally suited to a highly experienced, technically strong Diesel Technician or Workshop Foreman/Supervisor who takes pride in workmanship, understands what “right first time” means, and has the confidence and credibility to ensure that every truck leaving the workshop meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and reliability.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting final inspections, performing test drives, verifying repair quality, and reducing costly repeat failures and customer comebacks.
- This role is particularly well suited to a mature and stable professional who enjoys applying decades of practical knowledge in a quality-focused supervisory capacity.
- Conduct final quality inspections on all repairs, servicing, and maintenance completed on commercial trucks.
- Verify that all customer complaints and workshop job card items have been fully addressed.
- Perform diagnostic checks and road tests to confirm that vehicles are safe, reliable, and fit for release.
- Identify incomplete repairs, poor workmanship, or unresolved faults.
- Return vehicles to technicians for corrective action where required.
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and dealership service standards.
- Assist with advanced diagnostics and technical problem solving on difficult jobs.
- Work closely with Service Advisors, Workshop Foremen, and Technicians.
- Maintain detailed quality control and inspection reports.
- Support workshop efficiency by reducing rework and customer comebacks.
- Monitor adherence to workshop procedures, safety standards, and housekeeping.
- Provide technical mentoring and guidance to workshop staff where appropriate.
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Qualified Trade Tested Diesel Technician / Diesel Mechanic.
- Valid Code EC (Code 14 – required) Driver’s Licence with PDP (adv).
- Minimum 10-20 years’ post-trade exp. in commercial truck workshops.
- Proven dealership experience is essential.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capability.
- Computer literacy and exposure to Dealer Management Systems (DMS).
- Experience with diagnostic software and OEM systems.
- Exposure to major truck brands or similar (req.)
- Excellent attention to detail and strong workshop discipline.
- Good communication skills in English and Afrikaans advantageous.
- Local residency or willingness to relocate.
