About the Role

We are looking for a creative, strategic, and results-driven Mid-Senior Social Media Specialist to lead our digital presence and drive growth for South Africa’s leading Artisan Training Institute and other umbrella organizations within the group.

In this role, you will be the voice of the institute across all social platforms, showcasing the hands-on world of artisan trades, from welding and plumbing to electrical, diesel mechanic, and more. You will build a strong, engaged community of aspiring artisans, current students, alumni, and industry partners while helping us attract high-quality learners to our accredited programmes, and businesses to send their employees to be skilled and trained by our talented trainers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy and roll out plans, including annual marketing calendars, across platforms including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube and X (Twitter).
  • Create high-engagement content (Reels, carousels, videos, stories, and live sessions) that highlights our training workshops, accredited trade courses, student success stories, graduate placements, industry collaborations and more.
  • Manage the full content calendar.
  • Grow our follower base and increase qualified lead generation (enquiries and applications) in both B2C and B2B segments.
  • Monitor social media performance using analytics tools and provide monthly reports with actionable insights.
  • Run targeted paid social media campaigns (Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Google Ads etc) to promote specific courses and events.
  • Engage with followers, manage community interactions, and handle reputation online.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team, trainers, and alumni to produce authentic, compelling content.
  • Stay ahead of social media trends and adapt strategies to reach target audiences interested in trade careers, or companies interested in expanding their teams’ skills with short courses or to gain a full accredited trade qualification.

Critical Job Skills & Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in social media management, preferably in education, skills development, or trade/technical sectors.
  • Proven track record of growing social media accounts and delivering measurable results (followers, engagement, leads, and conversions).
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating creative content (especially graphic design, short-form video and visual storytelling).
  • Expert knowledge of online social media platforms and scheduling tools.
  • Proficiency in content creation tools: Canva, CapCut, Adobe Premiere/Photoshop, or similar.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing funnels, lead generation, and SEO principles for social.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple campaigns simultaneously.
  • Experience with Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, and data-driven decision making.
  • Passion for skills development and promoting artisan careers in South Africa is highly valued.
  • Creative and strategic thinker with strong leadership qualities, exceptional project management skills, and the confidence to take ownership and drive projects from concept to completion.

Advantageous

  • Experience in the TVET, SETA, or artisan training sector.
  • Knowledge of South African youth employment initiatives and BBBEE skills development landscape.
