Novatek Drills (Pty) Ltd, a leading manufacturer of Mining Equipment, situated in Robertsham, Johannesburg (South), has the following vacancies.
CNC Lathe Operators
1. Must be familiar with Fanuc controls and/or Siemens controls
2. Abilities required
· Adjustment of off-sets, skimming soft jaws, tooling up of external and internal cutting tools ensuring that the center height is correct, measuring components using precision instruments such as a Vernier, Micrometer, Internal Dial Caliper, Telescopic Gauge.
3. Minimum 12 months’ experience as CNC Lathe Operator
4. Will be asked to Operate a CNC Lathe during the interview.
5. Remuneration in accordance with MEIBC (adjusted) rates between G and F
6. Must be willing and able to work overtime and shifts if required
CNC Lathe Setters and Operators
1. Must be familiar with Fanuc controls (Siemens Control is an advantage)
2. Must be able to set up CNC lathe – including all operator functions.
3. Abilities required
· All Operator abilities as above.
· Must be able to read and understand G-code and make G-code program adjustments/changes if required.
· Good communication skills in English
· Mathematical skills to calculate program adjustments
4. Minimum 18 months experience as CNC Lathe Operator/Setter
5. Will be asked to Set and Operate a CNC Lathe during the interview.
6. Remuneration in accordance with MEIBC (adjusted) rates between DDD and A
7. Must be willing and able to work overtime and shifts if required
Semi-skilled Boilermaker with MIG, TIG and CO2 Experience
1. Must have at least 3 years’ experience as a semi-skilled boilermaker.
2. Must be able to read and understand technical drawings and be familiar with welding symbols.
3. Will be asked to set, operate various welding machines and weld test pieces during the interview.
4. Remuneration in accordance with MEIBC (adjusted) rate D to AA(6)
5. Must be willing and able to work overtime and shifts if required
Semi-skilled Centre Lathe Turner
1. Must have at least 3 years’ experience working a Centre Lathe, including scew cutting.
2. Must be able to read and understand technical drawings and be familiar with all associated measuring instruments used to measure workpieces accurately.
3. Will be asked to set, operate a Centre Lathe and measure workpieces during the interview.
4. Remuneration in accordance with MEIBC (adjusted) rate AA(6) to A
5. Must be willing and able to work overtime and shifts if required
CNC Lathe and Milling machine Shift Supervisor
1. Must be familiar with Fanuc controls (Siemens Control is an advantage)
2. Must be able to set up CNC lathe and Milling Machines – including all operator functions.
3. Abilities required
· Have Supervisory experience
· Having own transport is essential
· ISO quality system knowledge
· Must be able to write simple G-code programs.
· Must be able to read and understand G-code and make G-code program adjustments/changes if required.
· Good communication skills in English
· Mathematical skills to calculate program adjustments
4. Minimum 3 Years’ experience as CNC Lathe Operator/Setter
5. Will be asked to Set and Operate a CNC Lathe during the interview.
6. Remuneration in accordance with MEIBC (adjusted) rates between A
7. Must be willing and able to work overtime and shifts
Qualified Milling Machinist
RESPONSIBILITIES (summary followed by specific details)
Summary: To take effective control of a milling machine in a safe and efficient manner. Producing various parts which conform in all respects to drawings provided and within the required time frame.
· Ensure material to be used conforms to required specifications.
· Complete job documentation.
· Verify all features and characteristics of jobs which you produce on an on-going basis.
· Work to meet the requirements of ISO 9001 Quality Management System
· Work in compliance with company safety standards.
· Comply with given production times.
· Responsible for on-going lubrication and maintenance of own machine.
· Responsible for cleanliness of own machine and work area.
· Responsible for the company tooling and measuring equipment used.
· Ensure that defective items are correctly marked and reported and recorded immediately.
COMPETENCY REQUIREMENT’S (specific qualifications, experience or capabilities, etc)
· Good communication skills in English
· Served a recognized apprenticeship as turner or milling machinist or as toolmaker.
· Std 8 with mathematics (grade 10).
· Familiar with engineering drawings.
· Having own personal tools.

· Signing operations on workshop documentation.
