Solutions Architect - Transmission Specialist [DWDM/OTN]

Our client, a leading wholesale core telecommunications company based in Johannesburg is looking for a Solutions Architect - Transmission Specialist.

The successful candidate will provide pre-sales technical support to clients and the sales, bid and commercial teams. Review client needs and design end-to-end optimised technical and commercial solutions. Ensure technical, capacity, and inventory feasibility, to meet service level agreements, timescales and budget.

• Provide technical pre-sales support for the sales and provisioning processes.
• Design technical solutions, including creating internal and client facing technical documentation.
• Identify solution concerns, issues, contractual challenges and mitigate appropriately.
• Develop technical product descriptions, architectures and functionality documentation.

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 8 years’ technical experience within the telecoms industry, with 5 years in a Transmission Specialist - solutions architect role.
• Expert knowledge in service delivery, sales support, network infrastructure and operations support.
• Knowledge of Transmission (DWDM, OTN, SDH), IP (Peering, IP Transit, Layer 2/3 services), Fibre, Colocation and Subsea networks.
• Expert knowledge and experience in GIS systems.
• Experience with product and technology development cycle, including technical product development and fulfilment, assurance and billing procedures.
• Experience in a network engineering role focused on design and planning of Transmission or IP networks.
