Sapientis is recruiting a Senior Marketing Manager on behalf of a fast-growing, highly successful African retailer to drive cross-border strategy.

Based in Cape Town, this high-impact, confidential position will see you taking ownership of the full marketing department - spanning Digital, Brand, and a rapidly expanding loyalty programme. Your core mission is to translate corporate business strategy into high-performing campaigns that increase market share and profitability across key sub-Saharan African markets

Key Responsibilities

• 360° Strategy Execution: Define and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned directly with annual pan-African business goals.
• Loyalty Programme Scaling: Drive the customer lifecycle strategy, leveraging shopper data and insights to understand purchasing behaviour, reduce churn, and maximize customer lifetime value.
• Campaign & Budget Ownership: Oversee the full marketing budget, media strategy, and agency partnerships from concept to rollout.
• Cross-Border Leadership: Collaborate closely with in-country local teams to drive brand awareness and, most importantly, feet to stores.
• Exco Reporting: Deliver monthly and quarterly data-driven performance reports to the executive team, linking marketing metrics directly to financial outcomes.
• Team Leadership: Lead, inspire, and develop a diverse marketing team, championing a high-performance, resourceful organizational culture.

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 5+ years of marketing experience within a retail environment, with at least 2+ years in a management/leadership capacity. Experience in African retail is a major advantage.
• Education: Business Degree or National Diploma in Marketing Management.
• Digital Fluency: Proven expertise in cutting-edge digital marketing practices and cross-border social media engagement.
• Key Skills: Commercially minded with a creative edge; highly analytical with the resilience and agility to thrive in a fast-paced, complex corporate retail environment.
