Business Development Manager
Alliance Media
This is a senior, high-impact role at the heart of Alliance Media's commercial strategy. As Business Development Executive, you will own the entire product lifecycle — from sourcing and securing prime landlord sites to managing lease portfolios, overseeing capital expenditure rollouts, and ensuring our media assets remain premium and revenue-generating.
You will be the key relationship manager for both existing and prospective landlords, with a mandate to grow our footprint across South Africa and, where required, other African territories.
Strategic Landlord Management
- Manage and grow relationships with existing municipal, private, and concession landlords
- Negotiate and renew leases proactively — a minimum of 9 months before expiry
- Accurately capture all lease costs and ensure timely, compliant payments
- Identify and approach new landlords; negotiate and execute new lease agreements
Site & Business Development
- Research and identify high-value new site opportunities — including competitor sites and tenders
- Prepare compelling proposals, pitch decks, and tender submissions
- Develop and deliver presentations to prospective landlords and key stakeholders
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry events to inform strategy
Capital Expenditure & Project Management
- Plan, procure, and oversee the installation of media structures on new and existing sites
- Manage capex projects end-to-end — structure selection, procurement, logistics, foundation, installation, and illumination
- Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to budget
Product & Data Management
- Maintain and enhance the Cost of Sales register and CRM/data systems
- Track and report on occupancies, maintenance, site development, and capex variances
- Submit accurate weekly progress reports to the Commercial Head
- Implement routine and ad hoc maintenance programmes to keep media assets premium
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field (MBA advantageous)
- Minimum 5–7 years' professional experience, with at least 3 years in a senior business development or commercial management role
- Proven track record in landlord/client relationship management or property leasing
- Experience managing complex data sets and producing meaningful management reports
- Project management experience, particularly in infrastructure or media rollouts
- Experience working across other African markets is a significant advantage
