General Foreman - Construction Industry

RPO Recruitment’s client, a well-established property development and construction company in Cape Town is seeking to appoint an experienced General Foreman with strong residential construction experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Overseeing and coordinating daily site activities on residential construction projects
• Managing subcontractors, labour, materials, and plant on site
• Monitoring construction progress and ensuring projects remain on programme
• Maintaining quality standards and ensuring work is completed according to specifications
• Enforcing health and safety compliance and site housekeeping standards
• Assisting with site planning, scheduling, and productivity management
• Conducting site inspections and resolving on-site challenges efficiently
• Liaising with Site Managers, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors
• Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the required standard

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in the residential construction industry
• Proven experience working as a General Foreman on residential developments
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, finishes, and site coordination
• Ability to manage subcontractors, labour teams, and daily site operations effectively
• Sound understanding of health and safety regulations and quality control procedures
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Good leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Must currently be based in Cape Town or surrounding areas
