A highly respected engineering and technology environment is seeking a seasoned senior leader to head up advanced R&D initiatives within the defence, aerospace, and military technology sector.

This is a strategic leadership role suited to an individual with extensive industry experience who can provide technical direction, mentor high-performing engineering teams, and drive the development of cutting-edge stabiliser and optronic systems for international clients.

The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary engineering teams responsible for the full R&D lifecycle — from concept development and system architecture through to prototype delivery and client integration.

This role requires a rare combination of deep technical expertise, leadership maturity, and the ability to guide and mentor senior engineers in a high-performance environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of highly skilled engineers and technical specialists.
  • Drive strategic R&D initiatives within defence, military, and aerospace programmes.
  • Oversee the development of advanced optronic and stabiliser technologies.
  • Provide technical leadership across concept design, prototyping, testing, and system integration.
  • Engage with international stakeholders and clients on complex engineering solutions.
  • Establish engineering best practices, technical standards, and innovation strategies.
  • Support long-term capability growth and succession planning within the engineering division.
  • Ensure projects meet stringent quality, regulatory, and operational requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • 15–20+ years of experience within the military, defence, aerospace, or advanced engineering sectors.
  • Proven leadership experience managing and mentoring engineering teams.
  • Extensive experience in R&D, system design, and prototype development.
  • Strong background in optronics, stabiliser systems, or related advanced technologies.
  • Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical programmes in demanding environments.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Exposure to international defence or aerospace projects.
  • Experience working with Middle Eastern or global clients.
  • Strong strategic and commercial awareness.
  • Ability to operate effectively in high-pressure, mission-critical environments.
