Join a leading private hospital as a Patient Administration Manager and play a key role in ensuring efficient patient services, admissions, billing, and operational excellence.   • Overseeing daily patient administration operations, including admissions, discharges, transfers, and reception services.
  • Managing patient records and ensuring accurate capturing and confidentiality of information.
  • Supervising and supporting administration staff, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
  • Ensuring accurate medical aid, billing, and account administration processes.
  • Monitoring compliance with hospital policies, healthcare regulations, and quality standards.
  • Handling patient queries, complaints, and resolving administrative issues professionally.
  • Coordinating with clinical departments to ensure smooth patient flow and efficient service delivery.
  • Managing departmental budgets, reporting, and operational targets.
  • Implementing and improving administrative systems and processes to enhance efficiency.
  • Ensuring excellent patient experience and customer service standards are always maintained.

Education

  • Minimum: Diploma in Health Administration, Healthcare Management, Nursing Administration, Business Management, or related field.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in health administration, Healthcare Management, Public Health, or Business Administration.
  • ICD-10 coding qualification (Intermediate or Advanced level) from a recognised provider such as IntelliMed or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of CPT/clinical coding systems will be advantageous.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in hospital patient administration.
  • Experience within a private hospital environment is essential.
  • Experience dealing with medical schemes and private funders is required.
  • At least 3 years’ experience managing a patient administration and admissions team within a hospital environment.
  • Proven experience in managing complex hospital operations and patient administration systems.
  • Strong understanding of hospital billing systems, ICD-10 coding, PMB regulations, and private medical aid processes.
  • Exposure to case management functions (e.g. authorisations, length-of-stay monitoring, scheme negotiations).
  • Thorough knowledge of healthcare legislation including POPIA, the National Health Act, HPCSA regulations, and the NHI framework.
