Our client, a leading International Logistics company based in Johannesburg, is looking to fill the position of International Logistics Director.

Purpose of the Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the International Logistics Director is responsible for providing strategic leadership, governance oversight, and operational direction to the International Logistics division. The role ensures sustainable growth, client retention, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, risk management, and financial performance across all regions and functional areas. The IL Director leads a multidisciplinary leadership team responsible for customs operations, regional operations, forwarding, Africa expansion, transport strategy, project cargo, financial management, SHERQ compliance, human capital development, and business process optimization. The role drives innovation, automation, and continuous improvement to enhance productivity, competitiveness, and profitability while ensuring compliance with customs regulations, ISO standards, and corporate governance frameworks. The IL Director serves as the custodian of operational performance, customer value delivery, and risk governance, ensuring the division remains resilient, scalable, compliant, and strategically positioned for long-term growth.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 Senior Certificate
  • Bachelor’s degree - Essential
  • Postgraduate qualification in Business Administration/Logistics and/or Qualified Chartered Accountant – Advantageous
  • Minimum 8 years leadership experience managing multi-functional teams
  • Proven experience in driving operational and financial performance
  • Experience managing regulatory compliance and customs risk
  • Experience leading transformation, automation, or operational improvement initiatives
  • Experience managing customer relationships and business development
  • Experience managing large-scale operational or regional logistics functions
