Cinnabar is seeking experienced freelance copywriters and editors for high-level government and public sector reporting projects.

We work on complex documentation including:

• Annual Reports
• Strategic Plans
• Annual Performance Plans (APPs)
• Sector Skills Plans
• Policy and governance documents
• Institutional reports

We need professionals who can turn dense, technical content into clear, structured, publication-ready documents aligned to government and stakeholder standards.

Requirements

• 5+ years’ experience in copy-writing or editing
• Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Public Administration, or related field
• Demonstrated experience in aligning reporting practices with corporate governance frameworks, including King IV and King V.
• Strong command of UK English (preferred)
• Experience in government, NGO, or corporate reporting environments
• Excellent attention to detail and consistency

Ideal Experience

• SETAs, municipalities, SOEs, or government departments
• Strategic planning and performance reporting frameworks
• Multi-author document editing and structural refinement
• Formal institutional or policy writing

Scope of Work

• Structural editing and content refinement
• Copy-editing and proofreading
• Ensuring consistency across large documents
• Aligning tone with institutional requirements

Work Arrangement

• Freelance / project-based
• Remote (South Africa preferred)
• 2–8 week project cycles
• Ongoing work for suitable candidates
