A dynamic and growing accounting practice based in Somerset West is seeking a skilled and experienced Account Manager to join its professional team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance, while building strong long-term client relationships.
This role is ideal for a proactive professional who thrives in a client-focused environment and enjoys mentoring junior team members, delivering strategic financial insights, and contributing to the growth of the practice.
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reconciliations
- Manage and maintain accurate accounting records for a portfolio of clients
- Prepare monthly management accounts and provide meaningful financial insights
- Compile annual financial statements in accordance with applicable reporting standards
- Prepare and submit VAT, income tax, provisional tax, and dividend tax returns
- Manage SARS correspondence, queries, and dispute resolution processes
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax legislation, and internal procedures
- Supervise, mentor, and review the work of trainees and junior staff members
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through professional service delivery
- Identify opportunities to add value and support client business growth
- Collaborate with auditors and tax consultants to ensure integrated client solutions
- Ensure all deadlines and budget requirements are met effectively
- Qualified Accountant (SAIPA / SAIBA / SAICA / CIMA or equivalent)
- Minimum of 4–5 years post-articles experience within an accounting practice
- Proven experience managing a client portfolio of 15+ clients
- Previous team management and mentoring experience
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting, taxation, and financial reporting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Professional, proactive, and client-service driven approach
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability
