Professional Engineer - Structural

Our client is seeking a Registered and experienced Engineer to join their Structural Engineering department, based at our Cape Town office. The ideal candidate will have a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills and practical experience in the Structural engineering sector.

This role requires a professional who is not only technically proficient but also possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.

• Lead and manage structural engineering projects, ensuring quality, compliance, and adherence to budgets and timelines.
• Execute conceptual designs, contribute to feasibility studies, and develop optimised or alternative value engineering solutions.
• Provide design leadership, utilising expert proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD and Prokon (Finite element design software), to deliver innovative engineering solutions.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, helping to develop their skills and support their professional growth.
• Independently manage multiple projects under the guidance of the Director, ensuring project goals are met.
• Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and contractors to ensure smooth project execution and client satisfaction.
• Travel to project sites and client meetings will be required.

Qualifications and Experience

• B.Eng / BSc in Civil Engineering
• Must be professionally registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer.
• A minimum of 5 years' experience in the Structural engineering field, with specific experience in the design of concrete framed structures, structural steel buildings (warehouses etc.) and load bearing structures.
• Proven experience in structural concrete and steel design for multi storey commercial structures
• Expert proficiency in Prokon and relevant finite element analysis design software packages
• Proficient in MS Office Suite
• Knowledge of AutoCAD 2D and Revit

• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Valid driver’s license. Own vehicle essential.
