Are you a detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys combining strong accounting fundamentals with commercial analysis and process improvement? HUL International is looking for a Financial Accountant to join our Finance team and play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting business decision-making, and driving operational efficiency across the business.

About the Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for preparing, analysing and reporting financial and operational information that supports effective decision-making across the business. You'll work across management accounting, forecasting, reconciliations, import costing and financial administration, while also contributing to process optimisation and automation initiatives within the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

Management Accounting & Reporting

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and supporting schedules
  • Support forecasting, financial reporting and analysis activities
  • Prepare reports, insights and commentary for management and directors
  • Maintain cashbooks and perform bank reconciliations
  • Prepare finance schedules, reconciliations and reporting documentation
  • Manage accounting activities for smaller entities, including payment processing

Import Costing & Operational Finance

  • Calculate and analyse import-related costs, including freight, foreign exchange and clearing charges
  • Maintain shipment costing and import tracking schedules
  • Support margin analysis and operational finance reporting
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to resolve financial queries and discrepancies

Compliance & Financial Administration

  • Support month-end and year-end processes, including audit requirements
  • Assist with VAT, PAYE, UIF and SDL administration
  • Support BBBEE, insurance and other finance compliance activities
  • Process creditor transactions and prepare monthly reconciliations

Process Improvement & Technology

  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve finance processes
  • Support automation and systems optimisation initiatives
  • Assist with implementing reporting tools and technology enhancements
  • Contribute to improving efficiency, accuracy and scalability within the finance function

What We're Looking For

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant finance or accounting qualification
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a finance or accounting role
  • Experience preparing management accounts, reconciliations and financial reports
  • Strong financial analysis capability and experience supporting management decision-making
  • Exposure to import costing, forecasting and operational finance reporting will be advantageous
